Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey Awards over $2M in Grants
The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey (HFNJ) has announced that $2,137,909 in grants were awarded to 11 New Jersey nonprofits in its third quarter of grantmaking in 2026.
The centerpiece of this quarter’s awards is a $1 million capital grant to support Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center’s new Melchiorre Cancer Center.
Several other grants awarded this period extend HFNJ’s commitment to preparing the next generation of health care workers. The Health Resources and Services Administration projects a nationwide shortfall approaching 700,000 physicians, nurses and other clinicians by 2037.
The Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center grant will fund a dedicated Short Stay Unit at the Melchiorre Cancer Center. This specialized area will deliver efficient care for patients receiving brief infusion treatments. By streamlining patient flow and reducing wait times, the unit will give patients access to essential cancer therapies that prioritize clinical excellence and a humanistic approach to treatment. The Melchiorre Center will serve as the northern hub for integrated oncology services provided by RWJBarnabas Health.
