As part of these efforts, we are pleased to share case stories from our members about their racial equity work.
For philanthropy to advance equity in all communities, especially low-income communities and communities of color, it needs to be able to understand the demographics of the organizations being funded (and declined), the people being served and the communities impacted. That data should be used to assess practices and drive decision making.

CNJG has long been committed to helping our members diversify the make-up of their boards. That’s why we initiated the Board Bank project in partnership with the American Conference on Diversity.
The Community Foundation of South Jersey formally launched in 2008 after three years of extensive planning through the efforts of CNJG and a number of Council members.
Looking to improve the collection and sharing of philanthropic data, the Foundation Center and the United Philanthropy Forum (of which CNJG is a member) have entered into a partnership.
After careful consideration, the CNJG Leadership and Policy Committee recommended the Council’s Board of Trustees should adopt the following formal position:
