Newark Funder Affinity Group: Exploring Workforce Development and Labor Market Trends in Newark
As we grapple with the rising cost of housing and the need to stabilize Newark residents in their homes before they can move to an asset-building phase, the role of workforce development and upskilling is clear. A majority of our residents simply struggle to make ends meet due to their current wages. During this session, we will hear from the Executive Director of the Newark Workforce Development Board, Karen Gaylord, on recent trends in the local labor statistics and the NWDB’s key priorities. We will also have a chance to look at the landscape of workforce development programs (existing and new to Newark) and compare notes on funding strategies and prospective grantees. We hope our shared learning will inform future opportunities for coordination and collaboration within the Newark Funder Group on workforce issues, as many of us are taking a refreshed look at the sector.
Cost: Free for CNJG Members; $95 for Non Member Grantmakers
This program is only open to staff and trustees from grantmaking organizations.
