The Devils Youth Foundation, in an effort to bring life-changing opportunities to New Jersey’s youth through the power of sports and entertainment, recently committed its largest-ever grant, $100,000, to foundation partner La Casa de Don Pedro.
The grant provides the La Casa de Don Pedro facility with a brand new “El Patio de La Casa” — a revitalized area to serve as a vibrant community hub modeled after a Caribbean Plaza with safe spaces for children to play, attend concerts, have a neighborhood communal refrigerator and enjoy festivals.
El Patio de La Casa’s subsequent community programming will serve over 800 youth in Newark annually.
Today the Regional Foundation announced $4,750,000 in Implementation Grants to seven organizations throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. The Neighborhood Implementation Grants program supports comprehensive community development plans that target specific neighborhoods, are resident-driven, and equity focused. The multi-year funding is designed to assist the foundation’s grantee partners to start or sustain momentum in their comprehensive neighborhood revitalization initiatives.
“The grants we announced today are an exciting next step in the journey of the Regional Foundation,” stated Kevin Dow, Executive Director of the foundation. “These community investments will further the success of organizations leading resident engaged, neighborhood revitalization efforts with stable funding for at least five years. Three of the grants represent new implementation investments while four of the seven sustain long standing partnerships.”

“The grant investments announced today reflect the foundation’s ongoing commitment to sustained funding for our partners” stated Kevin Dow, Executive Director of the foundation. “Habitat and Parkside are strong partners doing amazing work including collaborations with other foundation partners and NJCDC is exciting as it moves our long-standing partnership from neighborhood planning to implementation and deepens our support in Paterson.”
Prudential Financial has awarded “microgrants” to 54 nonprofits and individuals throughout the city to help them continue their effort to address community issues and improve quality of life for people and families.
Prudential, headquartered in Newark, recently distributed $280,000 from a $500,000 Community Grants Program, launched in March. Prudential partnered with the Community Foundation of New Jersey to administer and distribute the microgrants.
“We know a strong city is built on strong neighborhoods and we understand that those closest to the challenges in our community are best positioned to solve them,” said Lata Reddy, senior vice president with Prudential Financial and chair of The Prudential Foundation.

The Westfield Foundation recently held its most recent Board Meeting and awarded grants totaling over $40,000 to several local organizations, including two new grantees.
Pediatric Health Center at Trinitas Hospital: The Westfield Foundation supported this project by providing child-sized tables, chairs, and books in both English and Spanish. These resources will enhance the environment for young patients and their families at the Pediatric Health Center.
JCC (Jewish Community Center): The Foundation awarded a grant to the JCC from its Wagner-Hoffart fund, which is dedicated to supporting the Senior Citizen Community. The grant is aimed at facilitating a Musical Exploration series, ensuring that the JCC can continue to offer enriching programming to its members.
In addition to the ongoing partnerships with these established community organizations, two new grantees were introduced.
The Camden Coalition and the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation (BMS Foundation) today announced the first-ever recipients of the New Jersey Safety Net Innovation Program (NJ SNIP), which will provide $3.3 million in grants to 11 organizations focused on strengthening the healthcare safety net and improving health equity in New Jersey.
Awardees of the NJ SNIP grants will each receive $300,000 in funding over two years from the BMS Foundation to address the community and/or strategic capacity-building needs in their areas. The Camden Coalition will offer tailored one-on-one technical support related to project management and implementation barriers as well as other technical resources.
