Westfield Foundation Announces First-Quarter Grants

Since 1975, the mission of the Westfield Foundation has been to provide funding support in the arts, health, aging, historic preservation, social services and civic projects.  In pursuit of these goals, the Foundation has granted more than $6,300,000 to various organizations.

In the first quarter for 2017, the Foundation granted $51,700 to 8 local organizations.  These funds will be used to fund performances at Westfield middle schools, art and music presentations, the development of a boys' volleyball program at WHS, memorial stones for Thom Hornish and Cindy Gallagher at WHS, musical outreach program to area hospitals, provide a library at a caregiver center, and roof replacement. Recipients include New Jersey Festival Orchestra, Arts Power, Our House Foundation, Westfield Art Association, WHS Helping Hands (WHSHH) Fund, Girls on the Run, Overlook Hospital Foundation and Westfield PAL.

The Foundation will hold their annual meeting, open to the public, on Tuesday, May 2nd at 6:30 pm.  The meeting will be held at the Westfield Memorial Library.  The Foundation will be honoring Beth Cassie, Howard Cohen and Michelle Mattessich, who will be retiring from the board. Three new trustees will be joining the board for 2017-18: Shelley Brindle, Rich Elbert and Stanley Gersch.  A representative from the Young Entrepreneurs Academy will be the guest speaker.
