The Wallerstein Foundation for Geriatric Life Improvement generously funded the refurbishment of the Slobodien Pavilion Solarium, in memory of Rita & Melvin Wallerstein, obm. Mel’s family dedicated the renovation, calling it “Mel’s Spot,” as during his later years, as a resident at Daughters, Mel enjoyed sitting in the Solarium, visiting with his wife or reading the newspaper. Mel was very involved with Daughters of Israel. In addition to being a major benefactor of the Home, he served as a Board Officer for two decades and was VP Emeritus upon his passing.
