Spring Events

Friday, March 4, 2022

In the last couple of weeks, we’ve rolled out announcements for our 2022 Virtual Spring Colloquium: A Conversation for Social Sector, and we hope you are marking your calendars now for May 26th. This biennial event brings together New Jersey foundation and nonprofit leaders for valuable discussion, learning, and connection.

This year’s theme, Igniting Equitable Systems Change Together, continues to build on our Doing Good Better work – in partnership with the Center for Non-Profits – first introduced to CNJG members at our 2021 Annual Meeting & Holiday Gathering. While the December event tackled how we can implement trust-based practices, the Colloquium will go even broader, and help us consider how we can narrow power gaps, strengthen nonprofit-funder relationships, and truly advance conversations that can create transformational systems change.

And we have an exceptional group of panelists to lead and inspire this important dialogue. Joining moderator Dana Kawaoka-Chen, Co-Director and founding Executive Director, Justice Funders, we’ll hear from Dr. John H. Jackson, President and CEO, Schott Foundation for Public Education, Co-CEO Tulaine Montgomery, at New Profit, and John S. Watson, Jr., Co-Executive Director, New Jersey Conservation Foundation.

If you are interested in sponsoring this very special conversation, please reach out to Manager of Programs and Learning Anna D’Elia or me. Thank you!

But before we take on the Spring Colloquium, I hope you’ll consider joining us for Foundations on the Hill, along with more than 300 philanthropy representatives from around the country.

Spread out over 2 weeks, FOTH will once again take place virtually – this year from April 5 – 7, and April 11 – 14. Presented by United Philanthropy Forum, in partnership with the Council on Foundations and Independent Sector, FOTH provides an opportunity for foundation leaders and philanthropy-serving organizations to meet with their congressional delegation. Special programming will be offered by the Forum as part of FOTH 2022 in the afternoons on April 5, 6 and 7.

At FOTH, attendees advocate on behalf of the philanthropic sector and educate lawmakers about the importance of philanthropy, and the impact it has on their districts and constituencies. While we work to build relationships with Congress year round, FOTH is the one time a year when philanthropy comes together to speak with one, unified voice to our policymakers about the unique and vital role that charitable giving plays in America.

This year, I invite you to lend your voice to these important conversations. Click here to register, and please reach out to me for more information. I can’t wait to hear from you!

It’s only March, and already there’s so much going on at CNJG. We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming program, at FOTH, and the Spring Colloquium!

All the best,

Theresa Jacks, Acting President and CEO
Council of New Jersey Grantmakers
