Hurricane Matthew

Friday, October 7, 2016

In what is considered a potentially catastrophic storm approaching Florida, Governor Rick Scott has issued evacuation notices for more than 2 million people in Hurricane Matthew's projected path. As Floridians, hurricane season is all too familiar, but Florida has not been hit by a major hurricane in 11 years. The National Weather Service in Melbourne predicts Matthew will likely be stronger than any hurricane in recent decades, including the 2004 hurricanes (Charley, Frances, Jeanne) as well as Hurricane David in 1979.

Our associates in Florida, the Florida Philanthropic Network have created a resource page on their website where they’ll be sharing updates on what’s happening in Florida and how philanthropy is responding.
