The Trustees of The Fund for New Jersey awarded $278,000 in grants to non-profit organizations at their September 2019 quarterly Board meeting. Grants were awarded to four organizations in the areas of lead poisoning prevention and public education.
Kiki Jamieson, President of The Fund for New Jersey, stated, “The Fund for New Jersey is proud to support these policy organizations working to strengthen New Jersey’s public education system by increasing resources and improving access to a high-quality education for New Jersey’s most vulnerable residents.“
“We are also committed to a holistic approach to end childhood lead poisoning in New Jersey, which harms educational attainment and threatens the health of thousands of New Jersey children.” said Jamieson. “By working together to continue implementation of the ten-year New Jersey Lead Poisoning Prevention Action Plan, New Jersey can substantially reduce the 4,700 New Jersey children each year diagnosed with elevated lead levels in their blood.”
