During the Council’s strategic visioning process last year, it came to both the board’s and staff’s attention that many of you weren’t aware of the full range of benefits to which you’re entitled as CNJG members.
It was sort of like the cartoon of blindfolded people trying to figure out what an elephant is: One feels the trunk and thinks it’s a snake, another feels the leg and thinks it’s a tree, and so on.
Well, we got the message.
So we’ve taken a big step to make sure it’s easier for you to find out, learn more about, and take advantage of the many perks of being part of the CNJG community.
The CNJG staff is pleased to share with you a new publication we hope will be your constant guide to what CNJG offers. “Making the Most of Your CNJG Membership” is hot off the Internet equivalent of the press. For the first time, you’ll be able to find in one place all the ways that your CNJG membership and being part of this vibrant network helps your philanthropy to be as effective and efficient as possible.
We’re committed to making sure every current and new CNJG member is aware of this publication. And we urge you to help strengthen New Jersey’s philanthropic community by making new staffers at your organizations aware of it as well. We want this guide to be a reference that all members will consult from time to time to make sure they’re making the most of membership. Of course, it will be an ever-evolving document, with new benefits added as CNJG continues to enhance its value to New Jersey’s philanthropic sector.
“Making the Most…” lives on the CNJG website, and you can feel free to print out as many copies as you like. We want every staff member and trustee at every CNJG member organization to take full advantage of what the Council offers. And if you feel this guide could be a useful tool for recruiting new members, by all means feel free to share it with them. We think that at the same time the guide is a highly valuable tool for members, it’s also a good advertisement for any organization thinking about joining the Council.
So, we invite you to take a few minutes, read through this document, and familiarize yourself with all of the ways CNJG is working to assist you in your daily work to help New Jersey’s communities thrive. If you have any questions or need more information about your member benefits, please contact Craig Weinrich, Director of Member Services at (609) 341-2022, extension 4215.
Finally, be sure to take a look at the list of our upcoming events. We have some very informative events coming up, including: a program to present an innovative approach to increasing your grantees’ capacity on September 14; addressing homelessness in Newark on September 18; a meeting with new Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh on September 27; and our Finance and Investment Affinity Group will discuss late-cycle investments on September 28 as a nice lead-in to the Investment Forum for Foundations and Endowments on November 7.
We welcome your feedback, and are always open to ideas about how the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers can serve you better.
