About 2,300 young people in Newark will be employed this summer, thanks to a $1.5 million donation from the Foundation for Newark’s Future.

"This will help our youth with job ethics and responsibility," Shakira Knight of the Newark Youth Council said at the press event Monday.

Dr. Robert Johnson, Dean of Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School and an FNF board member, said that research has shown a correlation between summer employment and educational and economic success.
