Foundation Leaders Recognized

Friday, September 23, 2016

Last night, Chris Daggett of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, Risa Lavazzo-Mourey of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and Nina Stack, President of the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers (CNJG), were named among of LeadNJ (LNJ)’s “30 Leaders for 30 Years” at its special anniversary gala.

Dr. Lavazzo Mourey has served as the President and CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for the past 14 years, the leading the nation’s largest philanthropy dedicated solely to health.   Nina Stack has lead the statewide regional association of grantmakers, CNJG, since 2005, driving a number of significant efforts including the creation of the Disaster Philanthropy Playbook and the Newark Philanthropic Liaison.  Chris Daggett took over as the President of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation in 2010, following a distinguished career that includes serving as the Deputy Chief of State to the Governor of New Jersey and Commissioner for the NJ Department of Environmental Protection.

Hundreds of the most influential leaders across New Jersey – from the government, nonprofit, business and journalism sectors – gathered in Jersey City for the event, honoring 30 individuals whose leadership has made “New Jersey a better place to live and work.” The ceremony also marked a celebration of 30 years since the founding of Lead New Jersey (LNJ), a program that educates, empowers and engages talented leaders to create systemic change around New Jersey's most challenging issues.

“We are immensely proud of the leadership offered by LNJ fellows across the state over the past three decades.” said Mark Murphy, president, Lead New Jersey, and Fellow, class of ’91. “It was a tremendously challenging task to select just 30 individuals to receive this award, because each one of our Fellows truly exemplifies our mission. Each has made a unique leadership contribution to their profession and toward improving life in our state.“

The full list of “30 Leaders for 30 Years” honorees can be found online at leadnj.org/events.

Lead New Jersey was founded with a mission of convening leaders from various sectors and industries to address emerging issues facing the state and its residents. In recent years, the focus of LNJ’s programs has spanned affordable healthcare, criminal justice, economic development and transportation.
