Fall Program Highlights

Fall Program Highlights

Wednesday, September 4, 2019

I hope you had a wonderful summer. Among my best memories from the summer was getting to meet our members, and learning more about the work of this incredible network.

Now that summer is officially in the rear view, and September is upon us, I want to highlight upcoming programs to help plan your fall.

There’s still time to register for our Conversations with the Cabinet with Commissioner Norbut Beyer, NJ Department of Children and Families on September 11.  You can also mark your calendars for a Conversation with Commissioner Johnson, NJ Department of Human Services on November 12. These programs provide an excellent opportunity for funders to share knowledge, insights, and best practices that can help to inform the public sector's strategies for addressing key issues facing the state.

Don’t miss our special September 19 session on developing successful succession plans to help you plan for the future. This gathering brings together a panel of philanthropic leaders who recently went through the succession planning process, along with Koya Leadership Partners, a leading executive search firm, to ensure you can achieve successful leadership transitions.

A joint meeting of the Newark Funder and Newark Education Funder Affinity Groups will be held on October 2. Over the past several months, the Newark community has created a Complete Count Committee. The meeting will explore concrete steps the foundation community can take to help to ensure a complete count in Newark.

November 22’s webinar, How to “Get on the Map” will share how foundations can participate in this exciting data-sharing initiative designed to dramatically improve the quality and availability of giving data for our region. I encourage all CNJG members to Get on the Map, so we can all benefit from the most current grants information available.

Stay tuned for information about the Trenton funders meeting with Mayor Reed Gusciora on October 3. And registration will soon be live for the Annual Meeting and Holiday Luncheon on December 13.

The full list of upcoming programming may be found in the Events area of our website.

As we dive into fall, I want to end this letter by re-acquainting you with the various areas our amazing CNJG team focuses on. While this list is not even close to being comprehensive, it provides a general overview so you can know which staff can best assist you.

Please reach out to Deputy Director Theresa Jacks for information related to policy and government relations, the 2020 Census, grants and sponsorships, and partnerships.

Please reach out to Director of Member Services Craig Weinrich for information about membership renewal and dues, new member orientation, and overall membership services such as listserves, e-publications, benefits, and queries.

Please reach out to Program and Services Coordinator Anna D’Elia for information related to programs, education, and affinity group meetings.

Please reach out to Newark Philanthropic Liaison Kevin Callaghan for all things Newark – including the Newark-focused affinity groups.

Please reach out to Office Manager and Assistant to the President Pat Foo for general information and assistance. Pat can also help with scheduling meetings with me.

Sincerely,
