2020 Annual Meeting Going Virtual

2020 Annual Meeting Going Virtual

Wednesday, September 2, 2020

2020 continues to be an unprecedented year. Who knew back in March, we would still be dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in September? As we move towards the end of the year, CNJG has determined after much discussion and in an abundance of caution and dedication to our members, the 2020 Annual Meeting & Holiday Luncheon will be a virtual event.

Frankly, we’re excited to reimagine the “2020 Annual Meeting & Holiday Gathering” as a virtual event! Our theme, Reimagining Philanthropy: Data for Social Impact lends itself well to a virtual platform. The event will be held over 2 days - December 7 will feature a 90-minute workshop focused on evaluation and learning strategies for social impact, and December 8 will showcase a brief business meeting followed by our keynote presentation.

Thank you to our generous sponsors for this event: Novartis – Signature Sponsor, The Prudential Foundation and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey – Sustaining Sponsors, and The Provident Bank Foundation – Performance Sponsor. We’re thankful to have 2 Signature Sponsors this year. PSEG allowed us to repurpose their lead sponsorship for the spring event, which was cancelled this year because of the coronavirus. This pivot is a perfect example of embracing the pledge, “Philanthropy’s Commitment During COVID-19” endorsed by the Council on Foundations, and championed by nearly 800 organizations that have signed on, including a number of CNJG members.

We still have a number of sponsorships available to support the Annual Meeting & Holiday Gathering: Keynote Speaker Sponsor, Gift Sponsor, Workshop Sponsor, and Program Sponsor. We also have 2 Contributing Sponsors, and 4 Supporting Sponsors available. I hope you will consider sponsorship this year. While the Annual Meeting is a key membership event, and sponsorships support the gathering, it also helps CNJG raise unrestricted revenue for operations and programming. If you are interested in sponsoring the 2020 Annual Meeting & Holiday Gathering, please contact Deputy Director Theresa Jacks.

By now, the primary contact at our member organizations should have received an email to complete the 2021 Board Candidate form, and submit recommendations to the Governance Committee for consideration to the 2021 Board of Trustees. If you did not receive the form or need additional information, please contact Office Manager and Executive Assistant to the President, Ilene Cutroneo. Nominations are due by September 18.

Thank you for all you do to support the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers. 2020 has been a year full of firsts for everyone - from a summer of wearing masks and social distancing, to remote working, Zoom meetings, and virtual events. While much has changed - at least for the moment - some things have not. The support of our members, and our shared commitment to one another and our partners remains constant, remains strong, remains steadfast. We’re grateful to be in community with you, and grateful to be on this journey with you. Take care.
