Nearly 80% of Newark residents rent their homes. Since 2000, median rent has risen 20% while median income is down 10%. Newark’s median income is less than $40,000 a year; well short of the $63,000, United Way estimates a family must earn to meet its basic needs within Newark.

Join us as we grapple with a heightened risk of eviction during COVID-19, what our community leaders are doing about it, and long-term solutions to increase housing stability in Newark.

Speakers:
Khabirah Myers, Esq., Office of Tenant Legal Services, City of Newark
Maria Lopez Nunez, Ironbound Community Corporation
Jose Ortiz, Essex Newark Legal Services
