Newark Funders Affinity Group: South Ward Promise Neighborhood Initiative
Promise Neighborhood, The truths, the myths, and the next steps to transform a community
The South Ward Children’s Alliance has been awarded a $30 million Promise Neighborhood grant to implement a plan to improve the lives of children and families in the Clinton Hill neighborhood. They will leverage their schools, partner with the other schools in the neighborhood, and work with an array of community partners to move the needle on multiple indicators of child and family well-being. A federal grant of this size is an exciting development for Newark.
Please join us at our meeting for a presentation from Dominique Lee, the Executive Director of BRICK and the South Ward Children’s Alliance, and his team on their plans for the Promise Neighborhood. We will also discuss how local philanthropy can partner in this initiative by leveraging partnerships and public resources.
