Join us to hear from a cross-section of leaders striving to use data, community relationship and trust, and collaboration to comprehensively address violence as a public health issue. Newark has emerged as a national leader in police reform over the last five years, most recently diverting 5% of the police budget to create a new Office of Violence Prevention and Trauma Recovery. We will discuss how this happened, lessons learned, and plans for the years ahead.

Speakers include:
Deputy Chief Brian O’Hara, Newark Police Division (incoming Director of Public Safety)
LaKeesha Eure, Director, City of Newark Office of Violence Prevention and Trauma Recovery
Shoshanna Page, Senior Policy Advisor, Office of Mayor Ras Baraka
Aqeela Sherrills, Director, Newark Community Street Team
Alejandro Giménez-Santana, PhD, Director Newark Public Safety Collaborative
