The Council of New Jersey Grantmakers is pleased to offer this program through our membership with the United Philanthropy Forum. The training will be provided by our colleagues at the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance (IPA).

Join foundation staff and boards from across the country and get ready to invest in yourself with a guide to everything your foundation does and can do in the community.

Community Foundation Boot Camp is a 12-hour workshop offered in six online sessions scheduled over two weeks:
March 2 from 1:00 – 3:30 pm ET
March 3 & 4 from 1:00– 3:00 pm ET
March 9-11, 2022 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm ET

Hosted by Indiana Philanthropy Alliance, this training provides staff and board members with an overview of the structure and operations of a community foundation, covering nearly every aspect of this unique work. Topics include:

  • History, purpose
  • Board governance
  • Gifts and funds
  • Asset development
  • Grantmaking
  • Community leadership
  • Finance and investments
  • Legal issues
  • Operational sustainability
  • Lifecycles of community foundations

Community foundations are complex organizations. For more than 25 years, IPA has housed a dedicated program that offers specialized assistance to over 90 community foundations in Indiana. These foundations have achieved impressive sustainability, play significant leadership roles in communities, and have grown their assets to over $4 billion. IPA now partners with philanthropy serving organization (PSO) peers to offer its highly-regarded Community Foundation Boot Camp curriculum to audiences across the United States.
