Participatory Budgeting Project (PBP) and Council of New Jersey Grantmakers invite you to a funder briefing about the expansion of participatory budgeting (PB) practices across New Jersey communities and governments. Practiced in over 3,000 cities around the world, PB is a democratic process that enables community members to decide together how to spend public money. PBP recently embarked on an exploratory scan to identify promising opportunities for PB in New Jersey. This webinar will share opportunities we’ve uncovered around locally-identified priority issues such as affordable housing, transportation, and economic opportunity.
In addition to discussing the potential for participatory budgeting in our state, we’ll look at 2 case studies in New York and California where participatory budgeting is already being implemented. At the end of the session, our speakers will answer questions and provide resources and opportunities to learn more or become more engaged.
Participatory budgeting can advance equity and civic engagement by making public participation more accessible, inclusive, and empowering. Join us for an introductory discussion on the successes of PB and the results from the exploratory scan in New Jersey.
Cost: Free for CNJG Members, $35 for Non Member Grantmakers
Prior to the meeting, all registrants will be e-mailed an invitation with a link and dial-in information for the webinar.
