The green economy helps to promote good-paying, quality jobs for our state’s workforce, while advancing the health of our communities. Green jobs can improve the quality of air, drinking water, and housing conditions for local residents. This is especially important for communities of color, low-income neighborhoods, children and older adults – more likely to be impacted by pollutants and environmental hazards due to structural racism, inequity, and poverty.

While there is still a long road ahead, climate justice organizations continue to advocate for a just, green economy. And the Murphy administration recently announced the new Office of Climate Action and the Green Economy to create new pathways of employment in this sector. During this critical conversation, we’ll discuss how philanthropy can support green jobs and center environmental justice during this transition to ensure a sustainable, inclusive, and equitable recovery for New Jersey.

Featured Panelists:
Jane Cohen, Executive Director, Governor’s Office of Climate Action and the Green Economy
Kim Gaddy, Environmental Justice Organizer, Clean Water Action
Reverend Ronald B. Tuff, New Jersey Organizer, Greenfaith

Moderators:
Lucy Vandenberg, Senior Program Officer, Fund for New Jersey
Stephanie Greenwood, Senior Program Officer, Victoria Foundation
