About Raising A Reader
In January 2015, the Foundation for Newark’s Future announced a $400,000 partnership with the United Way of Essex and West Hudson to launch the Raising A Reader program in Newark. Raising A Reader's mission is to engage caregivers in a routine of book sharing with their children from birth through age eight to foster healthy brain development, healthy relationships, a love of reading, and the literacy skills critical for school success.
