In 2020, we have seen widening gaps in health disparities and wealth inequality, a surge in Anti-Asian racism and xenophobia, and state-sanctioned violence against Black individuals. There is much that philanthropy can do to respond – invest in Black-led organizations, push for structural change in healthcare and education, or just begin the conversation with your staff and board. Wherever your foundation or giving program is in your equity journey – we invite you to a conversation with the Camden Funders Affinity Group to discuss tools and resources for more equitable grantmaking, organizational culture change, and the many challenges that we must overcome along the way.
To help frame our discussion, we’ll hear from Samantha Matlin, Vice President of Learning and Community Impact at the Scattergood Foundation. Samantha will share how the foundation aligns their practices with their values around equity, from internal hiring and policies to grant applications and nonprofit partnerships. Afterwards, we’ll have an open dialogue on what other funders are doing to center equity in their work, and where philanthropy must go from here.
Join us as we reflect on how we can act on equity within our own organizations and across the sector.
Cost: Free for CNJG Members. $50 for Nonmember Grantmakers
