The Russell Berrie Foundation and the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers cordially invite you to an inaugural gathering of Bergen County funders. The meeting will convene philanthropists and grantmaking professionals who support, or who are interested in supporting, efforts that advance the quality of life for the residents and communities in and around Bergen County.
We will hear from Molly Cox, the President and CEO of SA2020, will join us to share lessons learned on how a broad-based coalition launched a community visioning process in 2010 in San Antonio, Texas, under then-Mayor Julian Castro, that has transformed the way nonprofits, local government, community leaders, philanthropists and businesses work together to improve the quality of life for San Antonians. Today, nearly a decade later, more than 160 multi-sector partner organizations are actively aligning to that vision and 70% of the community indicators that SA2020 tracks to measure progress, are moving in the right direction.
Lynne Algrant, CEO of the Volunteer Center of Bergen County, will respond to Molly and facilitate a conversation on how we might apply the practices of SA2020 to address trends and needs in Bergen County from this more systemic perspective.
We will also be joined by Irene Cooper-Basch, Executive Officer of the Victoria Foundation, on how funder collaboratives and affinity groups can drive local change. The event will conclude with a working lunch and informal networking. A detailed agenda will be forthcoming.
