Here in New Jersey we are fortunate to have an actively engaged foundation community that wants to ensure their grantmaking has the biggest impact possible. Your funding often directly intersects with funding provided to organizations and agencies by the State. Where and how the State invests its funding can have a critical impact on the issues and nonprofits that funders are supporting. Understanding just how the annual State budget comes together can offer invaluable insight to grantmakers.
Moderated by Feather Houstoun (bio), former State Treasurer under Governor Kean, the panel will feature Sam Crane (bio), former State Treasurer for Governor Florio, and Richard Keevey (bio), long time Director of the Office of Management and Budget and now with Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School. The discussion will provide CNJG members with an introduction to, and a basic understanding of, New Jersey’s State budget.
This program has been intentionally scheduled prior to Governor-elect Christie’s budget message. Among the topics to be covered will be some indicators to look for as the new Governor puts forth his first budget.
Note: This program is for grantmakers only.
Cost: $20 for CNJG members/$35 for non-members (includes a light lunch)
